Today I am jamming the album Thresholds, by The Curse Of Millhaven. I wasn’t too familiar with this band but I read “Death Metal from Belgium, I was instantly interested. This will be their 3rd album, so I did some digging and became quite angry that no one has ever brought this band up in conversation with me. A Death Metal band with more modern elements like metalcore that could break the necks of even the most veteran of metalhead’s. Pleased with their past, I came into this album very excited as I’m sure many of their fans are, just waiting for this beast to be released out of its cage.
I will not be breaking this album down song by song (Saving all the surprises for you) but from the opening jam to the last, I was fully involved. The title track is one of my favorites and It think was a beautiful way to open this album right up. Showcases the many directions this band likes to take within each track. You can yell at me all you want for this but it reminds me a lot of At the Gates, meets Old In Flames, meets Heaven Shall Burn, with a heavy dose of 90’s Death Metal. Which is a huge plus in my book. If you enjoy metal in general, this album will be a pleaser for many. I truly appreciated the early listen, you can tell these guys put a lot of work in this album.
