Rotte Nès was never meant to become an album.
PRATSJ started as a post-pandemic side project of two Voidian members, Robin Pannemans and Stefan Hex. Two musicians, a rehearsal room, no plan. The first song they wrote was Foknol: punk attitude, heavy riffs, two voices shouting at the same time. That one song set the course for everything that followed. Song after song piled up, and at some point it was clear this wasn’t just a rehearsal room joke anymore. Recording an album was simply the next logical step.
“Rotte nès” is Limburg dialect for a rotten place, something that pisses you off, or just a complete mess. It fits the record and the way these two look at the world. Most titles on the album are dialect too: Spas, Bojël, Nurk, Smèrig Joenk, Vieze Shlet, Errëm Shwop. If you’re not from Limburg, you probably don’t want to know what they mean. Some lyrics carry a real message. Many others are deliberately absurd.
Musically it’s hardcore punk, sludge and stoner thrown into a blender with feedback and noise. Nine tracks, 44 minutes, loud, dirty and unapologetic. This is the sound of two musicians making exactly the record they wanted to hear.
Yes, it started as a joke. It’s still a bit of one. But it was too good to leave on a hard drive. While Voidian is back together and writing new material, Rotte Nès fills the gap in the loudest possible way.
Rotte Nès drops Friday, October 23rd, 2026, via Polderrecords, on CD digipack and digital.
